My two adoptive children have Schengen visas in their Ethiopian passports, needed for when they arrived in France last year.
The visas will expire in April 2009.
The exact wording on the visas is :
"France - (+1 Transit schengen) / Type D"
However, we need to travel to the UK as a family in May 2009 !
I will be arranging UK entry visas for the UK side, but wanted to know whether I also need to extend the Schengen ones ?
The prefecture here tell me that no, since the two "Document de Circulation pour Etranger Mineur" (DCEM) cards we had issued here in France in July 2008 will suffice for entry back into France (these cards are valid until 2013).
And yet I know of other adoptive parents who have extended the visas whilst waiting for the "adoption plenière" procedure to go through (we do not expect our proceedings to be completed until much later this year).
Can you help shed any light on what is correct ? Do the DCEM cards indeed suffice ?
