Again maybe the same question about the Schengen Visa Empty
MessageSujet: Again maybe the same question about the Schengen Visa   Again maybe the same question about the Schengen Visa EmptyJeu 1 Déc à 0:38

Hello to all

It is my first entry here in the forum Very Happy

I am a greek citizen and I am living in Switzerland. My wife is from Russia and she got a free Schengen-Visa from the Greek Embassy (due marriage with an EC passport holder). This Visa is valid for all Schengen Countries, type C and number of entries is MULT.

So we have been in Greece for 3 weeks and now we are back in Switzerland (NON-Schengen country yet).

My question is: It is possible to travel with the Schengen-Visa, issued by the greeks, from Switzerland to Spain??? Do we will have problems at the passport control in Spain?

The greek embassy in Bern told me that there is no problem to travel from Switzerland to Spain with this Visa. I also called to the German Bordercontrol and they told me the same. Just it must be MULT. And my wife can enter without any problems to Germany.

Can confirm me this or do you know maybe more?? I am looking for a response and thank you in advance!

Dear Administrator

Thank you very much for your very fast answer! thumleft

Do you maybe know if the spanish boarderpolice will ask my wife, why she enters directly from Switzerland to Spain and not to Greece (visa is issued by the Greeks due I am greek citizen)? Of course it makes no sence to go to Greece first and then to travel further to Spain. we will just spend 3 days there and will leave again for Switzerland. What you think, we can say this to them?

2nd question:

As you know we are living in Switzerland (will enter Schengen approx. in 2008). My wife is getting every year a free Schengen-Visa from the Greek Embassy in Switzerland.

For example we got it yesterday the new Schengen-Visa, do we have to travel always to Greece the 1st time to get the stamps and afterwards we are free to enter for example Spain directly from Switzerland? I read somewhere that always the first trip has to be done to the country which issued the Schengen-Visa.

3rd question:

my wife has a Schengen-Visa with her photo (scanned). Is this a new type of Schengen-Visa? Or just they gave her another type of Visa because of married with an EC citizen? scratch

Thank in advance for your always professional answer. cheers

Jannis

Hello,

To your questions :

1. I suggest you simply tell the truth to the spanish border authorities in the unlikely event they enquire about the reasons why your wife is travelling to Spain.

2. There is no obligation to enter the Schengen area via the Schengen country which has issued the visa. In other words you don't have to go to Greece to have your passport stamped before going to Spain.

3. All Schengen visas are now supposed to be issued with a photo of the passport holder. Not all Schengen countries have yet implemented this system.

Regards.

Hello Administrator

Finally we never had problems to enter to other Schengen-Countries.

Just yesterday my wife had to make a new Schengen-Visa because she changed her old passport. They will issue the Visa (MULT, 1 year duration, max. 90 stay) for free to her. But my question is as follows. The greek embassy asked me and my wife into which Schengencountry we will do our first entry. I said that we will go to Spain again end of March. She noted it on the filled forms and told us need to know it because they will inform through the Visa-system the other countries.

Do you know something about it???

I wrote you once:

Hello,

As i said previously you may enter a Schengen country with a Schengen visa that was issued by a country that is not the one that has issued the visa in question. Questions may be raised by the border control authorities though.

Diplomatic missions or consular posts do exchange information on visa applicants. This is a common situation. I believe that is what the visa agent was referring to.
