Question about Type D+C

Hi, I'm from the Philippines and i was given a multiple entry Type D+C visa from the Embassy of Austria. The duration of stay noted on my visa is 90 days but the validity dates listed are from March 31, 2007 to September 5, 2007 (158 days). Does this type of visa allow me to stay in Austria until September 5, 2007 despite the 90-day duration of stay noted on the visa and even if i don't get a residence permit after the initial 3-month stay in the country? Can you also confirm if this visa also allows me to go around the Schengen states from March 31, 2007 to June, 2007?

The C part of your visa allows to spend a maximum of 90 days in the Schengen area within the two validity dates of your visa. The D part of your visa allows to obtain a residence permit in the country that has issued the visa. Once you have obtained that permit you will not require a visa any longer to travel within the Schengen area for a maximum of 90 days per half-year.

Hi, Thank you for the response. What if I don't apply for a residence permit in Austria? Will I still be allowed to stay in that country until the validity date noted on the visa (Sept 5, 2007)?
