Hi, the reason why irulius asked this question is because of a freak accident that happened last friday.
we both have the same visa and we are based in france. I have FRANCE (+1 transit Schengen) visa with last from 1st jan till 1st july 2007 which also exempts me from the titre de sejour.
Last friday, i wanted to go to berlin and subsequently eastern european countries for a 2 week holiday, by taking a train from Lyon to Geneva, and then take a plane from Geneva to Berlin. However upon reaching berlin, i was denied entry to the country and was detained for 12 hours and promptly deported back to geneva... basically a holiday goine wrong.
I called my ambassador in berlin who tried to convince them that i had the valid visa that allows me to travel freely, and even if i had a wrong visa, i could still travel as a tourist for up till 90 days since i am holding a Singapore Passport. However that said that the visa takes PRIORITY over my passport and therefore i am considered a student in France and not a tourist.
When i came back from my "holiday" the next day, i called my other Ambassador in Paris and he too said that there is absolutely nothing wrong with my visa as it allows me to travel freely.... I also went down to the Prefecture in Lyon and they too said that the fault lies with the Germans as they clearly got it wrong.
But right now, what u are saying above is the same as the Germans, meaning my visa only permits me to stay in France and no where else.... But i am REALLY REALLY confused....
cos right now it's you and the germans against 2 Ambassadors and the Lyon Prefecture.... and i really have no idea who is right and who is wrong now....
PLEASE ENLIGHTEN me.... thanks.
