| Dear Sirs,
I want to ask some questions about transit schengen visa. I will study in France from January to July 2006. I am in Hungary now. I applied French visa for Long sejour and I get a french visa written like French (+1 transit schengen) and i know that after going france i have to apply for titre de sejour in 8 days. I want to learn can I enter to austria with this visa and stay there 4-5 days and later come back to Budapest. (I have also multiple entry Hungarian student visa. In normal conditions i have no problems about entry to Hungary) after go to Turkey and later France?
I will use my transit visa right like a trip. Is it possible? If yes at most how many days I can stay in Austria? If i enter austria, after should I have to go to France ?
Thank you very much.. | |

| Hello,
The visa you have obtained allows to go to France and to transit (5 days maximum) via one other Schengen country in order to reach your final destination (France).
Once you have obtained your residency permit in France, you will be able to travel visa free in the Schengen area.
Regards.

| Dear Sirs,
I want to add two questions. Firstly, Can I do like that: enter to Austria and later to France and make a short trip in France and not apply to residence permit. Later turn to my home country and 3 weeks later come to France again (for stay 7 months ) and apply to residence permit after that second entrance.
What i mean to ask, is it obligatory to apply to residence permit after first entrance to the France?
Secondly, In normal conditions how many days should I wait to get this residence permit after apply to it?
Thank you very much..
PS: I did not see that there is an English question forum.. sorry.. | |

| Hi Kadir
Just read your post. Lets wait of an answer of the adminstrator. But in my view...it is not possible because I dont think, that this will be an multiple Visa.
But lets wait of the answer of the professionals.
Cheers,
Jannis | |

| Hi,
I forgot to say. On the visa it is written like MULT, so I guess this is a multiple entry transit schengen visa..
Thanks for your attention.

| Hello,
At the same time your visa indicates "1 Schengen transit" and "multiple entries", which in my view does not make sense : if you are allowed a single transit in a Schengen country on your way to France, i don't see how you could be allowed to come in and out of the Schengen area on a multiple basis during the same period of time. Besides i have not been able to identify in the Schengen rules anything that is likely to explain why your visa sticker was completed that way. I strongly recommend that you check with the consulate that has issued your visa and ask them to clarify your status.
Regards.

| Hello,
A visa may indicate "Multiple entries" and "1 Schengen Transit" at the same time to include the following possibilities :
- the traveller goes (let's say) to France : on his way, he goes through Austria and then through Switzerland and finally enters France. In this case there are two Schengen entries (Austria and France) and 1 transit in Austria.
- the traveller needs to travel to a non-schengen country (UK, Switzerland), he may then come back to the country which has issued the multiple entry visa.
Regards.
