Entry requirements

Hi,

My girlfriend was travelling from Hungary to Finland with a C type Schengen Visa (issued in Finland). At the Budapest airport they didn't want to let her through the border check, saying that she doesn't have a travel ticket showing that she will leave the Schengen area. I checked all around and found no such condition of entry... Is there really such a restriction on using a C type visa?

Having a return ticket is not a legal condition as such to gain entry in the Schengen area. It is however a general criteria that is commonly used by the Schengen authorities to determine whether a person is to be granted entry or not in the Schengen area. Without a valid return ticket a person may in fact be considered as having no intention to go back to his/her home country.
