I'm currently studying in France and I arrived here in september. I did all the OFII procedure the fastest as I could, but they managed to mess up with my documents. Now we are in December and I discovered I can't do the medical exams untill January (I had to go there to discover that, which is very far away from here, because they simply don't answer the phone neither answer letters, and of course they don't have an e-mail).
The problem is that I really need to come back to my home in the christmass and I'm not sure if I can travel. People from the OFII says I can't, but other people say I can, as long as I take enough documents proving I'm studying and living here, and also sent all the documents for the OFII. I actually have copies of letters that I sent to OFII asking for my convocation, which was never sent to me.
