Hi,
I'm an Indonesian and currently studying in Italy. I have a student visa with type C+D for Italy and Schengen States, multiple entries, which is valid until March 2008. I haven't received my stay permit here in Italy, but I want to travel to other Schengen countries. Can I do that with my visa?
Thanks

Your C+D visa is valid to travel to other Schengen countries. Normally, that visa is valid for only 3 months after its date of issue. So I'm surprised that you mention the visa is valid until March 2008.

Yes, actually I'm a little bit confused here. I also heard that normally the C part of my visa is only valid for 90 days while the D part can be valid as long as my period of stay. Is it true?
If the expired date on my visa is on March 2008, does it means that the C part of my visa is also valid until that date (which means I can travel to other Schengen countries), or the C part will be expired within 90days after the issued date while the D part will valid until March 2008 (which means that after 90days I can only stay in Italy)?

The C part will expire 90 days after the issued date while the D part will valid until March 2008, which means that after 90days, you can only stay in Italy.
