Question about Visa type D For France (Sauf CTOM)

I'm Indonesian citizenship
and hold Visa Type D
Valid for France(sauf CTOM)
multi entry
with duration 28-07-10 until 28-07-11 ( 1 year)
purpose : etudiant/student
i already got the Ofii stamp from France (Lyon to be exact)

can i go to other schengen state with this visa?ex : germany,czech,italy,dll
because some of my friend told me it's not possible because this only permit me to entry France not Schengen state
