Hello,
I'm very confused about the D-type visa, and the Consulat in Sydney (Australia) simply hangs up on you when you mention the word "visa", and only replies to some emails. The last reply that made sense in English, in response to my question about what my visa is, was telling me that I waste their "precious time" and can I please tell my university in France to stop calling them, they'll get around to doing everyone's visas eventually. (!!!!) I count myself lucky to have actually gotten a response - the other 12 or so people I'll be studying with in Lyon have for the most part been ignored.
The visa they have issued me is a "France (+1 transit Schengen)". It is a D type, and under number of entries it says "MULT". For days, it just has "XXX".
My first question is, am I able to leave France to go to Switzerland, and then re-enter France? I'll be getting a carte de sejour when I arrive.
My second question is about dates. I provided them with my flights, which I then had to push backwards because they didn't issue my visa in time. These are the dates on my visa:
From: 01-09-08
Until: 01-02-09
However, the flights I gave them show me flying into Paris on August 13, and leaving Paris on February 10.
Do these dates mean I can't enter France until the 1st of September - I have a lecture that morning!! - and I have to leave 9 days before my flight is actually scheduled to leave?!
Sorry to ask, but the Consulat is very unhelpful.
Thanks
Elise
